History of Pole fitness

The history of Pole fitness is Mallakhamb, a sport that is very popular in India today, which is their national sport. It is recorded that people were engaged in this type of acrobatics as early as the 12th century.

Instead of the Pole as it is known today in the world of Pole Fitness, in the Indian national sport, a prop made of wood is used, with a stepped shape - at the bottom about 60 cm thick, while at the top that circumference is reduced to about 35 cm. The top of that prop is used by acrobats for various tricks and elements, among which the most common types are standing on one hand.

Around the same time, in the twelfth century - although there are indications that it existed

much earlier - as early as 2000 BC - in China, sport on a pole with a height of 3-9m was practiced - and today as well. It is covered with rubber. In order not to injure the skin and suffer major injuries, and to be able to hang onto the Poles, the acrobats work on those Poles fully clothed. This type of Poles is easily recognisable and can be seen in the popular Cirque du Soleil.
